I was a Progress Free energy client which later became Duke Power - I moved in Jan. 2013 but my son continues to live in the flat we shared and I accept connected to pay the electric and water bills myself. I got my most contempo pecker Saturday and was extremely upset. No changes inside the apartment to cause it to jump upwards to over 3 times what it had been the previous month. The breaker to the rut pump has been cut off over a yr now - doesn't work, landlord hasn't fixed. The breaker to the water pump is cut off too because of a leak in the bathroom faucet, not fixed by the landlord either. The only things running in the apartment are the refrigerator, dryer one time a calendar week, microwave at present & then, one calorie-free in the bathroom, boob tube, small fan to go along my son from burning upward completely. He doesn't melt and then the stove has not been used since Jan.
I complained nigh the excessive bill (final month was $138, electric current bill is $368, previous bills never over $100) and they sent someone out to check the meter. All he did was look at it and say information technology didn't announced to take been switched - he didn't check to run across if the meter was working correctly. I merely now called once more and was told they were going to send someone out to check the meter again, and if need exist, would replace it with a digital one but if information technology continued to read "correctly" (avg 96 KWH per day!) that I would have to pay the bill. Something is incorrect in "Denmark". Likewise told me to become an electrician to check it all out - duh??? I live in flat, it's the landlord's responsibility - and he's not a responsible person, lxxx yrs old, retired electrician and when he comes to check anything out, he's drunk!!! Already told my son to detect somewhere else to alive because I won't be paying whatsoever $368 a month and maybe more nib when information technology'southward not being used inside that apartment - got the feeling that somebody needs to get off their ** and practice some real piece of work instead of telling me all nearly their new digital mode of doing things - HOT??? Yes, I am!!

I'm moving to a new apt. I've been living in this apt. for several yrs. I called to have Duke cut my electric on, to observe out someone used my proper noun and got electric and ran my beak upwards. The lady I spoke with told me I tin't even become my electrical on until I investigate which will take months, or pay the bill in total. I'm so mad correct now... Then they want my son'south proper name, his girlfriend's proper noun, so they tin run into if they owe a bill and she didn't live with me.

I signed up with Progress Free energy in Nov of 2012. Paid a $250 eolith and and then Duke took over Progress in May. In June, I received a letter that I had to pay another eolith of $234. Total BS. Tried to telephone call CS and they said they are not affiliated with Progress payments and that the previous renter in the dwelling house I am in had a bad payment history, so that is why another deposit is required. There was no way around it and And so I paid it. At present, I filed to take a payment ext that was due today, 9/27, and I even verified with CS rep last week that I had until today to pay it off.
Now, my power is shut off and my 2 y/o son that has bronchitis and on a nebulizer tin't do his breathing treatments until six pm this evening when I get paid to give them their ** coin. I swear, DUKE ENERGY is a bunch of ** crooks. They say one thing and and so change information technology effectually and will not take credit for their mistakes. If you are an employee of Knuckles Energy, and then go ** yourself and I hope your life is miserable. This company needs to shut downwardly for unfair rates and stealing. ** YOU, Duke ENERGY. I hope I tin get into another business firm with a different power visitor so I can SCREW you out of two months of bills and then not claim that it was MY mistake and fix the trouble immediately.

On September 26th, 2013, I chosen in to Duke Energy to enquire about my electric bill and the amount my invoice stated I owed to avoid disconnection of service. I reviewed my payment history with a technician and confirmed the dates I had paid for electric service in the months of July, August, and September, 2013. I had an extra $471.00 added to my business relationship that is due immediately, forth with the current charges. The technician informed me that the $471.00 extra in charges were a security eolith fee that Knuckles Energy had added to my account, due to high take chances factors associated with my payment history.
My husband and I have had electric service with Duke Energy since Oct of 1987. Although we take struggled to always make our payments monthly, we accept e'er paid our account every two months in total. I was shocked to hear that Knuckles Free energy would impose a security deposit on a client that has established themselves over 26 years ago. This made my family take to pay $662.00 by October third, 2013. For a couple raising a family of 4 children, where my husband and I both work full time, this amount of money going out of our home will cause our family an extreme hardship.
I am troubled that such a large corporation would consider security deposits for whatever existing customers. I explained that nosotros had merely moved residences one time during our 26 yr relationship with Duke Energy and were not planning to move anytime in the future. Tin anyone give any advice on where to turn for counseling about this situation? My husband and I would be interested in preventing farther hardships being imposed on future families if possible.

So basically I had payment arrangements fix up due to a higher nib b/c our fan on our AC unit was running constantly. I made the first payment arrangement on September third from my disability check and had exact confirmation when payments were to be fabricated. The 2d payment isn't due until September 27th but on Tuesday, around 2 pm, the power went out while I was resting on the couch so I went to investigate and saw a man walking back to his automobile from my fence. I asked why he was cut off my services and he was rude saying, "You didn't pay your bill for the 23rd and then nosotros are disconnecting." I said, "Uh, at that place has to be a mistake b/c my payment arrangements were for the third and the 27th," but he told me to call them and he couldn't reconnect my services. I was furious.
So I began making calls to Duke Energy and finally got connected to a supervisor but was rudely told that I agreed to the system dates and the 23rd was the last payment engagement so I wouldn't be able to get services restored unless I paid the $484.00 past due remainder which included a $15.00 reconnect fee. I knew that they were in the wrong and I'm very aroused b/c of what they did and so I was pissed at that time (and still am) b/c my kids would be home soon and I really didn't have any reason as to why nosotros didn't have power. So my husband called and asked to speak to a supervisor too but he got the runaround like I figured he would. Then the representative told us that there wasn't a supervisor there that could talk to him. He said, "Yous hateful to tell me that of all the supervisors at Duke Energy that there aren't any there?"
The representative told him that he didn't say they weren't there but there weren't any available and I'm sure he was thinking your wife has already talked to us and so what do yous call back you're gonna do to become the outcome unlike? After he told them he would concord for i. The representative said okay and put him on hold just you could tell he was aggravated that he was having to practise anything and he probably thought we were crazy. A few minutes later on, another supervisor came to the line and my husband said that it wasn't supposed to be disconnected unless the payment wasn't made on the 27th non the 23rd and nosotros knew that the calls were recorded so my hubby said to cheque the voice recording. It's automatically saying that when you showtime phone call that calls are recorded for quality assurance purposes and that was what nosotros needed the lady to check the recording for.
She said, "Do you lot remember what phone number you lot called in for the arrangements?" I said, "It was our home number which started with 864 number and she said, "It will probably take about an 60 minutes for me to check and listen and I will make my conclusion and then telephone call you lot back and become from there." So we were gonna sit at that place and wait the hour merely we didn't want the kids coming dwelling house and u.s. not having no ability and of grade they would automatically call the other missing parent and they'd assume we couldn't pay it and that'd exist another battle plus we knew nosotros couldn't sit here for hours with 6 kids and no power. And so nosotros went to run errands. Before we got halfway down the second street, we had a family emergency and had to come up permit our neighbors know what was going on and we sat at the neighbor's house until at least well-nigh iv:xxx pm.
Then we headed to Spartanburg to keep decorated b/c we knew we would be hearing from the supervisor at Duke Energy and figured nosotros'd be okay and if they tried to cover information technology upwardly, nosotros'd endeavor to get the power back on the adjacent day somehow. Honestly nosotros didn't really call up about the fact that we didn't get a remember until effectually 7 pm and we'd been decorated simply the day had to come to an end and kids had to get prepare for bed so of course I started freaking out. We tried to contact Duke Free energy back just every time my husband or I called they hung up the phone and we got tired of repeated hang ups and then we didn't know what else to practice. We knew that we couldn't bring them (our kids and niece and nephews that live with us too) back hither with no power and no air so nosotros were at our day's desperate end and It WASN'T OUR FAULT!!!!!
I chosen my sister-in-law that too lives with us and told her that plain they weren't gonna check the recording and we were still getting the runaround then when she got off work we'd have to get a hotel room to get the kids bathed and some slumber if possible. She said it'd exist belatedly and cash was tight for us so we had no choice only to sit and await on her to get off piece of work. While we waited, I contacted my bank and explained the situation to them besides b/c I have overdraft protection but my cards weren't working and nosotros didn't know what to do at this point. The banker told me to endeavor calling the power company and giving them the routing and account number since my cards weren't working and possibly I'd take some luck.
Then I tried and information technology went through and gave me a confirmation number stating the payment had been accepted around 11 pm the same night. I didn't know what else to do since I alive off a social security cheque every month and this bill was mine b/c no one else was hither at that time withal. Nosotros spent 7 long and frustrating hours in the Jeep closed up with the kids in a parking lot waiting on my sis-in-police force to become off at 2 am and so we couldn't afford to get a hotel room so nosotros came domicile and planned to become to slumber and so try again starting time thing in the morn but when we came in, my niece flicked on the living room lite and nosotros had power... REALLY?????
And then I find out the adjacent day that the neighbors had seen someone come back as presently as we left before that solar day and walk around our house, and so do something and go out. Cheers to Duke Energy my husband and I had no choice merely to sit down and expect for my sis-in-law with 6 kids in a car for 7 hours when nosotros could take gotten a call up from a supervisor and we would have known earlier in the day and this could have been corrected and nosotros wouldn't have been put through all of the anarchy and displaced the kids b/c of an mistake they made. Our services were wrongly asunder but they couldn't go on a promise and call us back either fashion. I think they demand to get some better employees in there and prevent this from happening to begin with just I could have been given a call dorsum as I was promised!!!!!
There'southward no style I'd recommend this power company to anyone... Too bad we can't choose who we want to handle our electric needs!!!!!! Duke Free energy needs to assistance united states from being displaced in this event and losing all of our food and if someone will answer, I volition mutter and perchance become someone to listen who might care!!!!! And not only did they price me money and headaches for unnecessary disconnect, they might also crusade me to exist short on my rent and there will exist fees that I'k sure they will pay b/c I didn't know the situation then....

In mid-August, I was informed that Duke believed that my meter had malfunctioned and that they needed to replace information technology. I was asked to setup a date and time for a service technician to come and supplant it. The service tech would demand to enter the house after the meter was replaced to re-ignite my furnace and hot h2o tank.
After setting upwards an appointment for the following Saturday, I became ill and had emergency surgery. I called Duke from the hospital to reschedule. They agreed to come the following Sabbatum between 12-iv p.m. That day, the tech called me at 3:50 p.m. and said they were running late and could they come the following Saturday. I said yes, simply please proceed the same time, between 12-four p.grand..
The following Saturday, the service tech showed up at 10:40 a.thousand. - I wasn't home. He left a note on my door to call and reschedule. I called and left a message to reschedule and lo and behold, I got home this night and I have no gas service - no hot water - no heat. It's going downward into the 30s this evening and I just got out of the hospital. I received no notice that they were coming today to change the meter. I received no prior warning that my gas service would be disconnected. I cannot take off work as I have missed three weeks of work due to illness. I have but returned to work. Now I accept to beg for fourth dimension off work and then that Duke can disengage the damage they accept done.
I am going to talk with every local news station and radio station. I am on a campaign to stop the abuse that Duke thoughtlessly imposes on its "customers". What other pick do we take? We are at their mercy. It'south criminal what they have washed to me and then many others. Criminal. They are bullies. I've read the other complaints on this lath and Duke is heading for eventual extinction. It won't happen overnight but the terrible service or lack of service they provide cannot continue for long.

I opened my business relationship with them very recently (tardily June of this year). My showtime bill was due in mid-August but I was getting paid three days subsequently the due engagement and figured there would be no issues. The twenty-four hour period I go paid, I receive a discover from Duke stating my commencement and 2d bill was deducted from my deposit. I chosen the company well-nigh it and was informed that when their computer reads a meter, it'll automatically deduct the unpaid bills from the deposit. It didn't make any sense and I told several reps that the only fourth dimension I ever knew of deposits beingness touched is when you cancel/transfer service. I get fed up trying to explain something I idea was mutual knowledge and drop it.
About 2 weeks after this, a Knuckles technician comes out to inform me that service will be close off due to "failure of paying a deposit". I tell him it was paid in June and enquire how I'd even have power if I never paid a deposit; he shrugs. Eventually it gets straightened out and I thought all was well. Until earlier this week I received a letter from Knuckles thanking me for my business with a check for the remaining portion of my deposit attached. Again, I call because deposits aren't returned until you cancel service. I'one thousand somewhen told that my account was closed because someone gave them my address for service. And I'grand told I demand to repay the deposit in full. I talked to several reps about this and all said the same thing. They tin can't "deny someone service". Basically, ANYONE can have your account closed by saying they're moving into your home without Duke fifty-fifty attempting to confirm that y'all no longer need their services. I have to confirm that I want to close a Facebook profile but non with something as unimportant as electricity. The entire thing is and then ridiculously absurd.

I accept been a paying customer for more than 6 yrs. At present Knuckles wants to charge me with a 314 dollar deposit? No notice of a deposit required for beingness late, just a cut-off find if the deposit is not paid. When I called to ask on the state of affairs, I spoke with some of the rudest Customer Service Reps. in the history of call centers. Atlanta telephone call center treated me like crap!!!! Basically telling me they can't aid me and they do not care. I'm confused, Practise we even matter? Seems like a big company shouldn't have to stoop to these measures to satisfy investors. They make PLENTY money off of u.s.. Nosotros need to find a way to end this corporation from taking advantage of their customers NOW!!!!

Duke Energy has been billing my account for an actress ix.99 per calendar month for a year for a service I never authorized. It came to my attention through checking my business relationship online to be sure they received my payment. I came beyond the payment history and the total on their side showed lesser/different corporeality which fabricated me wait further. I called the customer service number on the statement which I couldn't get through to at all. After about an 60 minutes, I had to seek out and call the Orlando number before reaching someone.
I explained to the rep the extra corporeality and asking why and was transferred to another person without any response. It was then, that rep went through this whole long winded explanation of this service. HomeWire Deluxe which sends out a electrician to repair or replace whatsoever damaged circuit breakers or anything electric in the home for upward to $1,200 per year. Also if you demand a fan to be installed or something like that. I then looked over my paper statement and saw the charge with the HomeWire on top.
I then explained I had never signed upwards for such thing. I would have remembered something similar that. He told me I agreed to it over the phone a yr ago. I know I didn't agree to any such matter. He said he had notes that a customer service person spoke to me on the phone updating my business relationship info and I was asked if I wanted this and they say I said yes. I explained once more in length to this rep that I know for a fact I never agreed to this, I never fifty-fifty heard of it! I asked if they had a voice authorization recording on file, he responded with we don't save information technology for a twelvemonth. So information technology's their word confronting mine!
I am a single mother on a tight budget I would remember or know if I agreed to such a service. He then stated he can remove the service merely cannot offer a refund for past year and I need to check my bill every month. He said I need to be sure to check my bills and everything on them. Then in essence he is proverb information technology's my fault that I didn't cheque my bill to catch this sooner. They could do nothing more than take it off from this point. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he said there wasn't anyone else I could speak to. I hung up and called back and explained to some other rep. They did transfer me to a supervisor and that person said they would put in a request to see either i calendar month or upwards to three months of a credit only. And fifty-fifty and then I won't know if I can receive that. I accept to expect a week or so to run across if they will even give me that.
What kind of scam is this? How many people don't look at every line on their utility bill? You lot know your phone bill would be the same or cable pecker every month. Simply your electrical bill will fluctuate month to calendar month and something like $9.99 can be overseen quite easily. What about older customers how many times this may happen to them or people with paperless statements, how many customers are beingness charged not realizing with this kind of scam!
This original rep that they claim asked me if I wanted to add together this service, do they go some commission or kicking back for this? Can it be possible that this rep signed me up without my permission and did it for the commission? Either mode Duke Energy will offering no other recourse other than the 1 calendar month or 3 at most to be refunded/credited. I want the full yr credited dorsum! This is an barbarism how they handled my call from the get go. For them to say I agreed to something I know I didn't without anything verifiable other than notes, and so to insult me with its my trouble to check my bill attitude is appalling. I hope there is someone out there that could assistance, look into or let others know, so this won't happen to anyone else.

I had a past due balance to which I agree with; withal, I received an electronic mail stating that the full amount was not due until 9/half dozen/thirteen - power was shut of this forenoon, 8/29/thirteen. Of course, in that location is NO customer service at such companies as they have NO contest and do not make information technology a priority of keeping or making their customers happy! They Do Non Intendance. And it is not Duke Free energy'south employees' fault... More or less the last person I spoke to from Duke Energy AGREED that the visitor treats employees merely equally they exercise their customers. With no respect - once more, they exercise not intendance. They have my deposit which was required to plow on my electricity, they take my full payment; however, they can't provide me an estimated fourth dimension as to when the ability will be turned dorsum on. My girl and grandson (who is an baby) are at home waiting for the power to exist turned dorsum on (could be upwards until midnight tonight before that happens).
Oh, one more affair - the technician who shut the power off this morning stated to my daughter, "Prepare for the worst." Really? Why so rude? And the technicians are not associated with Duke Energy, simply nonetheless the trucks they drive accept Knuckles Energy on them?? What really ticks me off is I was really on the phone with Duke Energy making a payment this morning when the technician was there. He could accept waited for a confirmation # I received afterward making the payment. All he would take had to practise was brand a telephone call and find out the payment was made! Although, the email received clearly stated the full amount was due no later than nine/vi/13.
I am extremely aroused and disappointed in the treatment of customers from Duke Free energy - and wait for it... There is no corporate part number the employees tin can provide yous with - merely an address in St. Petersburg, FL. I'k sure it is simply considering they would be inundated with massive call volumes! I will be writing a letter to the corporate office at: P.O. Box 14042, St. Petersburg, FL 33733. Non that it will practice whatsoever good, only information technology shall be written notwithstanding.

I have never gotten a high electrical bill until Knuckles Energy took over. I want Progress Energy or KUA. Duke charged me an extra $175 on my bill because they say my ability was disconnected 2 times in a year when it was not true, and I did not receive a letter telling me of anything similar this. I never pay over $125 with any other company. My final bill was $576.02. I wish I can go with another visitor. This company has the worst customer service I take ever worked with. We were with Progress Energy since 2010. Now that Duke has bought them out and took over and put their policies in place, all I tin say is they SUCK!. We have always paid our bill a month late. Just happens, we would have something come up. Never a trouble with Progress. They were always understanding and worked with u.s. as best as they could. Forth comes the Large BAD WOLF that holds a monopoly in our expanse on power companies and bam... Power bill has steadily increased. Nosotros lost power when at that place was a storm l miles away from us. 2 days we went without power and lost over $100.00 in food due to their incompetence. Now, open the latest nib and what do I see. Yous got information technology, ladies and gentlemen, a $213.00 new deposit. Keep in mind when we first moved in, our eolith was $150.00. This actually bites... I honestly don't know what adept it will do posting this hither. But I truly promise somewhere someone is seeing how sucky this company is. At present 4PM on Monday and still no power! I requested an ETA for service and they refuse to tell me anything other than the work order has been dispatched and will exist completed "today". They will non provide me with where I am on the dispatch schedule and requests to speak to a dispatcher or supervisor are ignored. I asked if today meant past 5PM since they refused to have anyone work on the weekend and they said past midnight!!!!!!! They are the absolutely worst customer service folks I have ever experienced. Knuckles Energy has a monopoly on supplying power to residents of the Pinellas Canton and the Florida legislature has given them gratis reign to pillage and steal while providing horrendous service.

I made a payment on electric bill on August 13, 2013 of a past due amount owed. Previous before making payment I called Duke Energy to set upward an arrangement due to I was not going to make it to the pay middle by 5:00 pm. It was a time frame of 15-20 minutes to calling Duke Energy and making the payment on its schedule date at 4:45. I called Duke Free energy after making payment to notify I made the past due corporeality and I called prior to make arrangement concern I was not going to make the v:00 pm cutoff. I have received two bills - one for the regular payment schedule for September nine, 2013 of $262.xiv mailed August xvi, 2013, and as of today some other mailed Baronial 21, 2013 for the remainder balance for the August thirteen, 2013 bill. A disconnect find if payment is not fabricated August 26, 2013.
A representative noted the payment on my schedule appointment and I'm later finding out the note is not satisfactory because they are not counting the payment I made on the schedule August thirteen, 2013 appointment but the agreement of the system prior. When asked to talk to a supervisor the comment they will say the same every bit the representative I spoke with has said, and besides have a case been reversed based upon data equally to my case and a reply no. I explain the circumstances and the time frame in which the first phone call was fabricated notifying Duke Energy and the payment made, and a 2nd call making Duke Energy aware and finding out it has been overlooked with payment being made on schedule engagement. Only response Duke Energy is holding me to the arrangement prior to making payment.

My power was close soon after Duke took over Progress Energy considering they changed account number but never sent a letter stating that. This has happened to a number of my neighbors besides. When the man came to close off power I was home. Before he fifty-fifty pulled out of driveway I had it straighten out with customer service and beak paid. 8 hours later I called back and asked for supervisor. I stated my example and she said the crew that cuts service off does non reconnect. That's a dissimilar service. Well same guy but came out to reconnect. My trouble with Duke is lack of advice and supervisors lying just to get you off the phone. The preparation and professionalism with Duke power is sorely lacking.

I received a alphabetic character from Duke Energy stating my account was past- due with a balance of $584 . I called customer service and made arrangement to pay $330 at present and the residual $243 on payday, 8/23. I mailed check $330.00. They disconnected my ability anyway on Monday. When I called Duke Free energy, I was told I had to pay $243 now to restore power: which I did. I was told I had been receiving monthly e-bills re: monthly charges and was chastised for not beingness "responsible"... A scan of my e-mail accounts dating back to 2012, shows two emails from Duke: both basic intro, etc. - no billing. Today, I receive detect from Knuckles Energy. I have to pay a new deposit, on account, of $420.00. I am unable to catch up as they continue adding charges: I feel this is an unfair business practice and want it investigated.

So, I'grand moving to Kissimmee at the end of the month. I chosen Duke Energy to arrange electricity service at my new house. This is typically just a formality for me. I'1000 47 years erstwhile and have a long, established history of paying on time. I was told I take to pay 610 dollars as a deposit, which they will go along for 23 months. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I tin can produce letters from three other utility companies in Florida that show I accept never been late or missed a payment. For me, information technology'due south really non the coin. It's the point. I shouldn't have to requite anyone that much money for that period of time. It goes against all ethical concern practices. This should non exist legal from a utility company. I intend to push this every bit far as I can.

I called and asked why I was beingness charged a deposit, which the operator indicated because of late payments. I asked what purpose would it be to add a deposit on my pecker and give me terms of "cutoff" if not paid past due appointment. How is this fair? How can you give me a charge for something that I have not incurred upon your company for service! This is a ripoff and should not be allowed considering they have a monopoly on ability service in this surface area! I was told that if you lot pay your neb on time for 12 months information technology volition be refunded, but y'all volition have to pay it or your service volition be disconnected. I similar to congratulate Lynn Practiced on her new CEO position at Duke Free energy. I alive in New Port Richey, Florida where Knuckles Energy (onetime Progress Free energy) is now our Electric Company. What a nightmare information technology has been for seniors, the disable, and the poor. I have a disability from a work injury. My wife Andrea is terminally sick with Huntington Disease. We are poor but always pay our beak monthly. If belatedly, I pay the late fee. Our electrical has been turned off a few times in the last ten years. I pay the bill plus the $40 fee. I also accept a $350 deposit, which is the electric company has.
The Knuckles Energy client service is very bad at that place is no pity very mean. I tell customer service representative that my wife could die from the rut. They reply, take her to the hospital emergency. I ask for wellness forms they tell me she has to exist on a animate car. Our electric was turned off last week a $225 bill. I had to borrow the money to turn it back on. Duke Electric sends me a letter of the alphabet dated August 7th. It states, "Because you take been runaway 2 times, we require a $100 eolith. It will show on your next bill." That is a total of $450.00 that Duke Energy volition accept. Duke Free energy's customer representative told me to find assistance. Energy assistance in Florida is stale upward. I'm a veteran I love this country so much. Why practice big companies care for the poor so bad? My highest bill in my apartment has only been 225.00. I think a $350 deposit is enough. Check the record I have paid my neb for x years with late fees included.

My bank paid Knuckles Energy electronically and Duke never credited it to my account. I had to spend iii hours on the phone with their customer service and Chase Bank had to spend nearly an hour with Knuckles to help them find my payment. Everything on Chase's end was done correctly: account number, service address, etc. Knuckles told Chase that it could have ended upward in the lost payment area (that's reassuring). If Duke wasn't a monopoly, I would go to another ability visitor, just there are no other options. The land of Florida needs to do something about Duke. They should give me credit (at to the lowest degree 3 hours minimum wage) on my adjacent bill for the fourth dimension it took me to help their accounting dept. find my payment.

Final twelvemonth, Duke Energy hit me of a sudden wanting a eolith of $200. My mother had cosigned for me because I didn't have the actress funds to pay it. She had no problem with this. She died in Oct and in March of this year they sent me a bill with the deposit due once again. Since she was no longer living, I had to pay the deposit. Then my swain that had moved in with me to assist ends see decided he would go the power put in his name since information technology was less and helped me make ends run across. He paid his deposit of $200 since at that place was no remainder due on his account. Then in June, they send a bill for $974. We looked at it and we were wondering where this extra balance came from. The actual bill was less than half of this.
When he called to bank check on the business relationship, they told him that my nib was added to his because they claimed nosotros were married. Nosotros are not married, never accept been married. So my question is, how and where did they get this data? He suggested that I call them and ask them most my business relationship. Starting time off, I couldn't fifty-fifty access my business relationship number, not by my social security number either. Then I finally got to a lady and asked her nearly my account. She said that it was added to my spouse's account. I politely told her that we were non married. She said that I had added him to my business relationship. I know I didn't do this. What'southward mine is mine; and what'due south his is his.So she tried to explain to me the reason, which wasn't even a reason. Information technology was more than like beating around the bush-league and fugitive the question all together. He got the same results.
Where practise they get this information about people? How tin can they just add together one person'due south account on top of someone else'due south account and look no questions asked? Neither one of us tin get anywhere on this thing and I don't know what we are going to do at this point. In two weeks, nosotros may be sitting in the dark considering we take no extra money lying around. Our electric pecker randomly runs at $200 the most. We have nobody to help the states out and I accept a disabled son that may be getting the shaft in the ends because we cannot pay the bills. We were fine until this and now we are at a total loss.
Knuckles Energy needs to get better records and non expect other people to pay another person'due south bills. I would fight this somehow, simply they won't even permit you talk to a supervisor. The only affair they said was that they wanted $450 by the 18th. This is ten days from now. He only has one more payday and won't describe anywhere close to that amount. We will have to go ability or nutrient. We shouldn't have to suffer because of their mistakes. Our personal records is none of their business. Credit possibly, but that's it. It is people like the states that live on little or no income that can't pay these ridiculous amounts of money. The rates are supposed to get upward, how are any of us going to be able to pay this amount? I don't know what to do right at present and I am at the terminate of my rope.

We were just hit with a large security deposit on our bill too. Client service was very unhelpful. Called and offered to pay next month'south pecker now and asked if I could make arrangements to pay the deposit over a couple of months. No become. Take to take it all paid past Aug 23rd, and any payment yous brand goes towards the deposit first, not your bill.

I've had Duke Energy for half-dozen years! They just "reviewed" my account and decided without notice that I needed to pay a $216 security eolith and that they would just add it to my bill. Their customer service reads off a script and they tell you lot when y'all ask to speak to a supervisor that "they will read and tell yous the same things I practise". Information technology'southward a joke. They have made a monopoly and prey on people. Raise your rates, six years and charge a security deposit. What a horrible company. Kind of like the mortgages that were predatory. Someone needs to look into predatory energy practices!

Apparently a yr agone, Duke Energy took over for Progress Energy. I have paperless billing which means I get an email each month showing the electric current month's bill. I pay the bills through my bank's billing system which transmits payments through EFT means. It isn't mailed; it's electronic. Duke Energy only just changed their information on the bill this month but they changed the account number at some bespeak in the last 12 months and then fifty-fifty though my emails, my online statement and my EFT transactions were nevertheless all under Progress Energy, Duke had assumed charge. The last recorded payment they prove was from April. I can't access the one-time account number. It's gone but the May and June bills still said Progress Energy but apparently the account number had inverse.
In the old days, you just had to testify a cancelled bank check for them to credit payments. I sent over a fax which show the transactions on my bank statement, transaction numbers and the amounts and dates paid to Progress Energy/Duke Energy simply they told me today information technology is insufficient evidence that they were paid! They demanded something they called a pipeline and when I told them that was meaningless terminology and they had to explain information technology. They insisted my banking concern would sympathize. Approximate what? My banking company has no inkling what they are asking for only is sending them a fax of the transactions. Duke is robbing me of ii months' worth of payments even though they accept deposited the coin under the old account number for Progress Free energy.
The consequences? Well I have a bill for iii months of electrical service and a by due balance they say I however owe for the 2 months I have already paid for. So they are threatening to shut off my electric service unless I pay them over $400.00 immediately.

Duke Energy is practicing bad free energy. The little print disconnect notice? Simply two months behind, never been disconnected in over 30 yrs? Reconnect fees? $ 400.00 in security eolith payments? This is happening to people I encounter at the grocery store? Ambitious no help customer service? Because you lot are non a customer when you are left with no alternative (choice) of service. Repayment for the Democrat convention, and I voted Democrat. WTF is going on. Do you call back we are stupid DUKE?

So this visitor SUCKS! They close off my power on July tenth, without whatever kind of notification! The reason: I was tardily on my payment. But the due date was July 18th. So I called them at 11 pm, when I got home from piece of work. Then a customer service lady told me I accept to pay for reconnection, and that was gonna happen by 8:30 am the next day! I accept a four-month-old baby; all her nutrient went bad, plus it was really difficult to sleep because of the heat. All I want to say is, "Thanks very much! You lot suck!!!"
